Апстракт: Рад се бави монашко-витешким редом Светог Лазара од његовог оснивања до пада последње крсташке тврђаве у Светој земљи, Акре, под власт муслимана 1291. године. Ред св. Лазара настао је отприлике у исто време кад и ред св. Јована и до 1120. године имали су заједничког Великог мајстора. Лазаревци су били посебни по томе што су се старали о оболелима од лепре, и отворили су неколико лепрозаријума у Светој земљи. Слично другим монашко-витешким редовима, и лазаревци су имали своје војне одреде, али, карактеристично за тај ред, њих су сачињавали лепрозни витезови. Ред је временом ширио своје поседе и деловање како на Леванту, тако и у Западној Европи. Саладинов напад на крсташке државе погодио је и лазаревце, па они временом затварају своје лепрозаријуме. Седиште реда је средином XIII века пребачено у Боањи, у Француској, а 1291. учествовали су у неуспешној одбрани Акре. Ред постоји и данас и бави се хуманитарним радом.
